Privacy Policy

A-1 General Contracting and Repair, LLC, doing business as A1 General Contracting (“A1”, “we”, “us”), is a contractor at 601 Fairmont Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554. This policy explains what we collect through www.buildwitha1.com, our contact form, our phone line and our text messages, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

What you give us. When you fill out our contact form, we receive your name, phone number, email address, street address, the services you are interested in, anything you write to us, and your answers to the two optional text message boxes, with the date and time you sent the form. When you call, text or email us, we keep what you tell us so we can help with your project.

Calls. Calls to our office line may be recorded and transcribed so we get your name, address and job details right.

What your browser sends. When you visit our website, cookies and similar tools record the pages you view, the website that sent you, your browser and device type, and your approximate location based on your internet address.

How we use it

To answer your questions and prepare your estimate
To schedule inspections and appointments and send reminders
To keep you updated on your project, and to handle billing, financing you ask for and warranty service
To send marketing text messages, only if you checked the marketing box
To see which pages and ads bring people to our website, so we can improve both
To meet our legal, tax and record-keeping duties

Text messages (SMS)

Our contact form has two separate, optional text message consent boxes, and both start unchecked. The first (non-marketing) box allows only texts about your estimate request, appointment confirmations and reminders, and updates on your project. The second (marketing) box separately allows only marketing texts about seasonal offers, home maintenance reminders and special promotions. You can check either, both or neither. Consent to text messages is never a condition of getting an estimate or hiring us. If you text us first, we may reply to that message by text; that alone does not sign you up for recurring texts, and calling us does not sign you up for text messages.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or HELP for help. See the text messaging terms in our Terms of Service at https://www.buildwitha1.com/terms for the full program details.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Our contact form

Our contact form runs on Jotform, a form service that stores your answers and sends them to us. The form opens in its own frame on our pages, so the ad and analytics tools on our website cannot read what you type into it. We do not upload your phone number or your text message consent to any ad platform.

Cookies, analytics and ads

Our website uses Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, the Google Ads tag and the Meta (Facebook) pixel. These tools use cookies to count visits, show us which pages people use, and measure and show our ads, including ads you may see later on other websites and apps. Google and Meta receive the browsing details described above under “What your browser sends.”

Our Meta pixel can pick up contact details typed into forms on our own web pages and send them to Meta in scrambled (hashed) form, to match visits to Meta accounts. It cannot reach our contact form, which runs in its own frame.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and manage your ad settings at https://myadcenter.google.com and https://www.facebook.com/adpreferences. Our website does not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

With companies that work for us, such as the services that host our website and contact form, send our texts and emails, and run our estimating, scheduling and customer software. They may use it only to do that work for us.
With a financing company, only if you ask to finance your project.
With a product manufacturer, only if your project includes a manufacturer warranty that needs your name and address to register it.
When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our customers, our crew or our business.
If our business is sold or merged, as part of that sale, under the same promises made in this policy.

This never includes your mobile number or your text message opt-in and consent for anyone else’s marketing. See “Text messages (SMS)” above.

How long we keep it

We keep your information as long as we need it for your estimate, your project, its warranty, and our tax and business records. After that, we delete it or keep it only in our archived business records.

How we protect it

We use reasonable safeguards, such as password-protected accounts and limited staff access, to protect your information. No website or system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that information will never be lost or misused.

Your choices

Ask us what information we have about you, or ask us to correct it.
Ask us to delete it. We will, unless we need to keep it for your warranty, an open job, or our legal and tax records.
Stop texts by replying STOP. Stop emails by replying to tell us, or with the unsubscribe link if one is included.

Children

Our website and services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
